Procopio Announces Jaclyn Simi is Recipient of 2012 Native American Law Internship
January 25, 2012
San Diego, CA – Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP is pleased to announce that Jaclyn Simi is the recipient of the firm’s 2012 Native American Law Educational Internship. Ms. Simi is a graduate with honors from Notre Dame de Namur University, and is currently completing the final semester for her law degree at California Western Law School where she is president of the Native American Law Students Association. The internship began on January 3 and extends for 13 weeks.
Procopio is working in cooperation with California Western School of Law's Clinical Internship Program to provide Ms. Simi experience through dealing, hands on, with everyday legal issues facing the Native American Community. She assists with specific Indian law related legal practice matters and other legal problems, which do not raise inter-tribal or intra-tribal issues. She will conduct legal research on various Native American matters and pro bono matters affecting Indian country, while gaining experience working in a law firm.
Ms. Simi received the Distinguished Advocate award recipient for her National Moot Court Negotiation Team, and has previously held clerk positions dealing with labor law, litigation and trade secrets. Additionally, she is a member of the Employment and Labor Law Society and the Women's Law Caucus. Ms. Simi has previous experience working in corporate communications and media relations with NBC Universal and the San Diego Padres Baseball Club, and recently worked for the San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector regarding deferred compensation employment matters, and has a strong interest in employment law and its application to Native American Tribes. She is a member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma.
Procopio is proud to assist Jaclyn in her professional development, and to help launch her career as a Native American lawyer in Southern California.
Applications for the 2012 Procopio Native American Summer Internship Program are being accepted through March 30, 2012.
