Aronberg Goldgehn Proudly Celebrating 120 Years
January 4, 2012
Chicago law firm Aronberg Goldgehn Davis & Garmisa is marking its 120th year anniversary in 2012, making it one of the city’s oldest law firms.
The Firm was founded in Chicago in 1892 under the name of Newman & Northrup, when two young attorneys began helping clients avoid the consequences of the unstable financial markets and many bank failures that ruled the day. The Firm became a strategic corporate advisor to many of Chicago’s most prominent businesses, handling corporate restructurings and other sophisticated financial and business transactions.
The Firm continued to grow and thrive in the decades following its founding, and is now a full-service business transaction and litigation firm with more than 40 attorneys. In addition to banking and business transactions, the Firm’s practice areas now include commercial and insurance litigation, labor and employment, ERISA, family law, estate and tax planning, and commercial workouts and foreclosures. During its 120 years of service, Aronberg Goldgehn has counted among its clients a number of large and widely respected companies and institutions in a wide array of industries, such as Goodyear, Booth Fisheries, American Greetings Corporation, Travelers and Midland Paper Company.
“It is amazing to experience, and it is a privilege to lead, such a high quality and people-centric law firm,” noted Firm Co-Managing Member John Riccione. “Our Firm has stood the test of time primarily due to its long-standing culture of putting people, clients and colleagues, first. We made a commitment that people are our most important asset and we will always strive to protect that asset.”
Adds Co-Managing Member Chris Bannon, “The fact that we have almost no turnover of attorneys and staff is another testament to our Firm culture. And our clients certainly appreciate that as well, since it creates continuity of service on their matters.”
”Both our new hires and our lawyers who have been with us for 40 years really enjoy the differences and advantages that our Firm has over most others,” says Bannon. “We look forward with incredible optimism, and with a rich and tested history, to the next 120 years of excellence.”
The Firm’s history includes the fact that during the trying years of World War I, one of the Firm’s partners won the Bok Peace Prize for assisting in the drafting of the Kellogg-Briand Peace Pact, which is still considered a major milestone in efforts to advance international peace. Also, during World War II, several members of the Firm answered the call to duty and nine partners gave their lives for their country. Riccione notes that tribute will be made to these partners during the Firm’s events in the coming year marking its anniversary.
Since 1892, Aronberg Goldgehn has provided a full range of legal and business solutions to sole proprietorships, family businesses and large institutional companies in a range of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, financial services, insurance and real estate, to name a few. We have endured through the years largely because of our focus on our clients’ well being. For more information, please visit www.agdglaw.com <http://www.agdglaw.com/> .
