Procopio Now Accepting Applications for Summer 2015 Native American Law Internship

September 5, 2014

San Diego, CA – Procopio, San Diego’s largest business law firm, is now accepting applications for its Summer 2015 Native American Law Internship. This internship opportunity extends Procopio’s long-standing tradition of giving back to the community it serves, and continues the firm’s investment in the future leaders of Indian Country.

Procopio has had seven Native American Law interns since the launch of the program representing the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel, Pala Band of Mission Indians, the Seminole Nation, the Cherokee Nation, the Shinnecock Indian Nation, the Isleta Pubelo and Tohono O’odham Nation. The internship provides an opportunity for a Native American law student, or law student emphasizing Native American Law, to gain hands-on experience dealing with everyday legal issues facing Native American communities. The intern is involved in matters that deal with specific Indian law-related legal practice matters and other legal problems. Procopio interns reach out to local Native American youth to provide guidance and inspiration regarding educational direction and opportunities. Interns will also connect with Procopio intern alumni in a nationwide network of the next generation of Native American attorneys and legal professionals throughout Indian Country.

This paid summer internship position lasts 8 to 10 weeks, commencing after May 11th, 2015. Applicants should have completed their first year of law school prior to the start of the internship. Applications should include a short cover letter expressing their interest in Native American Law, along with a resume, writing sample and Law School transcript. The deadline for the application is Friday, October 17th, 2014. Completed applications can be emailed to Ted Griswold, Procopio Native American practice group leader, at ted.griswold@procopio.com.  Please visit Procopio’s website for more information on the Native American practice group, this internship and alumni, please click here <http://www.procopio.com/practice-areas/Native-American> .
