New Set of Directives Regulating Public Procurement in the European Union
On 15 January 2014 the European Parliament approved a brand new set of directives regulating public procurement in the European Union. The new directives, which cover all sectors as well as concessions (this is the first time concessions are regulated in a consistent and systematic way by the EU legislator), have to be finally enacted by the Council of the EU and then gazetted. We expect the process to be complete by the end of March 2014. Member States will then have 2 years to implement the directives in their own legislation.
