Intern Joins Procopio's Native American Practice Group
San Diego, CA – Procopio welcomes Stephanie Conduff as the firm’s fourth recipient of their summer Native American internship program. Ms. Conduff is a Citizen of the Cherokee Nation of Northeast Oklahoma and recently finished her second year at University of Oklahoma School of Law. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Public Policy from the University of Minnesota. A member of the Cherokee Nation Business Committee, Oklahoma Magazine recognized her in 2011 as a “40 Under 40” award recipient. She also previously worked as journalist for the Boston Globe.
“Stephanie joins our firm with an impressive resume and a wealth of knowledge of Native American culture,” said Ted Griswold, Procopio partner and Native American practice group leader. “We recognize that it can be difficult for Native American attorneys to get experience in a full-service law firm that also deals with Native American law. We want to give our interns that opportunity. Stephanie is very accomplished and her insight and experience working in tribal commerce and government will help us continue to provide our tribes, and tribal-affiliated clients, the highest level of legal services.”
Procopio's Native American Practice Group extends the firm’s tradition of giving back to the community it serves through its summer internship program for Native American law students or law students interested in Native American law. Procopio allows students to gain hands-on experience dealing with everyday legal issues facing our Native American clients. Ms. Conduff will be exposed to specific Native American legal practice matters, including working with tribal governments, businesses and inter-tribe entities, and gain experience working in a full-service business law firm. Projects may include the development of programs for Tribes that can be used in their governmental operations, including Tribal histories, program audits and development, Tribal code review and updating, strategies for cultural resource protection, tribal healthcare, employment, and legislative and rulemaking review and analysis.
