Sikora authors article in Real Estate Taxation

Milwaukee, WI - June 10, 2011 - Real Estate Taxation, a national journal written by leading practitioners in the field, published an article by John A. Sikora entitled “Structuring the Build-to-Suit Like Kind Real Estate Exchange” in its first quarter 2011 edition. The article, based on John’s work of more than two decades advising participants engaged in such transactions, explores the tax and non-tax considerations important to proper structuring and offers his views on an important case pending in the Tax Court regarding a build-to-suit arrangement.

Chinese business and The Art of War

Milwaukee, WI - June 10, 2011 - Weiss Berzowski Brady is co-sponsoring an event through the MMAC’s China Business Council on June 27th, 2011. The lecture, entitled “The Art of War and the War of Business,” will be given by Prof. PU Ying Hua, who is associated with Peking University and Tsinghua University, among others. Prof. PU is an expert in Chinese literature and history, who has more recently applied her knowledge of the famous 2,500 year old text The Art of War to the modern business world. The event will host a delegation of businessmen and women from many areas of China and promises to be informative and thought provoking. WBB’s own Charles Stone will be providing the introduction of Prof. PU and her topic. Mr. Stone received his Ph.D. in Chinese Language and Literature before pursuing his J.D. and often lectures on Chinese culture and law. Michael Berzowski Sounds Off on Professional Responsibility

Milwaukee, WI – May 27, 2011 – The Wisconsin Law Journal has enlisted attorney Michael M. Berzowski to write a series of articles on ethics and professional responsibility, the first of which was published this week and can be found here. Directing his thoughts to both practicing lawyers and law students, Mr. Berzowski presents an introductory call to arms, reminding people that preventative maintenance and knowledge can be the best medicine.

Mr. Berzowski’s expertise on the ethics of the legal profession has long been recognized in the state. He annually presents the “Ethics for Wisconsin Lawyers” seminar sponsored by the University of Wisconsin Law School, readily sharing his expertise with the legal community.
