Law Weathers Hires Two More Attorneys

Stacey George Joins Law Weathers  

 

Grand Rapids, MI, September 14, 2012 — Law Weathers is pleased to announce that Stacey George has joined the firm to offer real estate and estate planning services. For the past decade, Stacey has represented buyers and sellers of residential property as well as condominium associations, landlords, tenants and small business owners with commercial real estate holdings.

 

Offering general counsel on a variety of real estate transactions, Stacey has experience with easement and boundary line matters, drafting purchase agreements and reviewing sale by owner contracts. She has represented landlords in contract negotiation and assisted in resolving issues between landlords and tenants. She has also worked with condominium associations in interpreting and enforcing their condominium documents and in the assessment lien process.  In addition, she has worked with contractors in drafting and reviewing contracts and navigating disputes and liens.

 

With estate planning, Stacey has helped clients with real estate holdings determine the best ways to manage, transfer, divide or sell their assets. She also represents a variety of clients, drafting wills, trusts and other estate planning documents customized to fit the clients’ wishes and needs and  counseling them on possible tax obligations. She has handled matters involving retirement, blended families and providing for minor or disabled children.  Stacey has also assisted clients in the process of probating decedents’ estates.

 

Stacey graduated cum laude from Alma College in 1999 and received her J.D. cum laude from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2004. She is a member of the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the State Bar  of Michigan and the American Bar Association.

 

 Law Weathers is pleased to announce that Mark Hanisch has joined the firm’s real estate practice. He brings more than 30 years of experience in real estate law, with a special focus on condominium development, representing condominium and homeowner associations, resolving transactional disputes and title problems, and lakefront property real estate law.

 

Mark joins Law Weathers after serving since 1997 in a law firm he helped to establish. Prior to that, Mark worked for many years as a partner in one of the largest law firms in Grand Rapids. He represents clients who own, oversee or lease commercial and residential properties. This includes owners, developers, landlords, tenants and associations.

 

For owners and developers, Mark assists with structuring legal entities, drafting contracts and guiding them through the process of acquiring, developing, leasing, selling or exchanging property. He also helps clients resolve issues regarding titles, environmental matters, zoning and transactional disputes.   For associations, Mark can support establishment of the nonprofit corporation, bylaws and contracts while guiding board members through the legal processes and procedures necessary for oversight as well as state and federal compliance. He also advises on amendments, internal disputes, assessment and collections issues and rule adoption and enforcement. His goal is to achieve workable solutions while maintaining neighborhood harmony. 

 

Mark graduated from Grinnell College with a B.A. in 1975 and received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1978. He is a past president of the Real Estate section of the Grand Rapids Bar Association and he has received the highest rating, AV, by Martindale Hubbell for excellence in his practice. Mark also serves on the board of directors for the Michigan Migrant Legal Assistance Project.
