Phillipe Berteaux Joins Marvell to Create a New Insolvency and Financial Restructuring Department

September 3, 2012

Marvell is delighted to announce that Philippe Berteaux has joined the firm as a full equity partner to launch a new insolvency and financial restructuring practice.

In 2007 Philippe Berteaux founded his own boutique firm, relying on an experience of more than 15 years in the corporate recovery sector, having started his career with leading experts such as Jean-Louis Borloo and Maurice Lantourne.

Berteaux has advised on restructuring and insolvency issues in a wide range of sectors, both debtor and creditor side, with a particular focus on complex cross-border insolvency matters and company voluntary arrangements.

Philippe Berteaux’s strength relies on advising businesses on how to stabilize, restructure and safeguard their futures, avoiding the formal insolvency route. More recently, he has developed an in-depth understanding of private equity issues and assisted both investments funds and debtors regarding leveraged buy-out loans.

Philippe also provides his clients, which include both SMEs and large groups, with a recognized excellence in litigation and court proceedings, and an extensive knowledge of the key players of the procedure (receivers, liquidators...).

Philippe’s deep experience in both litigation and transactional restructuring matters complements our existing areas of expertise in a very important field for us” said Serge Wilinski, in charge of the Firm’s international practice. “His high visibility in the Paris market and cross-border insolvency experience enhances our existing international exposure” he added.

Philippe Berteaux decided to join Marvell, accompanied by his 3 year associate, Sandra Boujnah, as the firm presents an expansive platform that enhances his practice and allows for significant collaboration with lawyers in other practice groups such as corporate finance and employment. He has also made the choice of an open, dynamic, human-sized structure, with wom he shares the same ethos: pragmatism and a results-based culture.

Philippe Berteaux is a member of ARE (Association pour le Retournement d’Entreprises), a leading Association of business recovery professionals.

Philippe Berteaux was listed in 2011 by Decideurs Stratégie Droit in the top 20 French insolvency firms.
